Control & Isolation Transformers
A Control Transformer is a device designed to provide power to control and auxiliary equipment that is not intended for direct connection to the main power supply. Its primary function is to regulate the supply voltage for control circuits of AC starter motors, such as starter coils, timers, indicating lamps, electronic protection relays, and so forth.
The Control Transformer is utilized to deliver control power, thereby enabling the use of lower, safer, and more efficient control circuit voltage in applications with high working voltages. The transformer’s superior inrush current handling characteristics contribute to the overall efficiency of the system. This ensures that the system can handle sudden increases in current, or ‘inrush current’, without compromising performance or safety. This is particularly important in applications where equipment is frequently turned on and off, as these actions can cause significant fluctuations in current. By effectively managing these inrush currents, the Control Transformer helps to maintain the stability and reliability of the overall system.
